Edgil Burke, 85, of Grayson, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. Edgil was born April 22, 1938 in Grayson, KY, a son of the late Haskell Burke Sr., and Lula Belle Adkins Burke. Edgil was retired from BASF in Asheville, NC and a member of Wilson Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He was an ordained Baptist minister, former pastor of Georgetown Baptist Church in Leicester, NC and served his country proudly in the U S Navy. He was preceded in death his wife, Lois Reeves Burke; brothers, Chester Burke, Haskell Burke, Jr. and Eugene Burke; sister, Geraldine Burke. He is survived by a daughter, Teresa (Steve) Britt of Hendersonville, NC; sons, Tim (Karen) Burke, Terry (Robin) Burke and Perry (Robin) Burke all of Asheville, NC; brother, Clyde (Joyce) Burke of Grayson; special companion, Garnet Lewis of Grayson; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 23, 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Pastors Joed Rice, Terry Burke and Perry Burke. Burial will be Monday, March 25, 11:00 a.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East with full Navy honors. Visitation will be Saturday 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Memorials are suggested to, Wilson Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 6995 Wilson Creek Road, Grayson, KY 41143. Pallbearers will be, Nathan Burke, John Burke, Trey Clark, Nicholas Alvaro, Mason Clark, Grayson Burke, Andrew Frock, Jesse McGuire and Jake Lewis. Malone Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
